The following is from Just the News.
The top Justice Department prosecutor for civil liberties and voting rights says an ongoing federal review of state voter rolls has uncovered significant irregularities, including noncitizens and deceased individuals listed in election databases.
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon told Just the News, No Noise that early findings from the review show “tens of thousands of noncitizens” and “hundreds of thousands of dead people” appearing on voter rolls.
The Department of Justice is seeking access to voter registration databases in all 50 states ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. So far, Dhillon said 16 states have turned over their voter rolls or signed agreements to provide the data, while 29 states are facing litigation to compel them to comply.
“We want every American citizen to feel confident in voting and feel confident in the outcome of that election, and that is why we’re undertaking this massive project,” Dhillon said.
Even with access to less than half of the state databases, Dhillon said the preliminary findings are troubling.
“We’re finding tens of thousands of noncitizens on the voter rolls, hundreds of thousands of dead people on the voter rolls, and duplicate registrations between states,” she said.
Earlier this month, federal authorities also charged a Mauritania national living illegally in the United States with voting in seven federal elections in Pennsylvania, according to officials.
Dhillon said additional illegal voting cases have been identified but have not yet been prosecuted in some jurisdictions due to delays in confirming U.S. attorneys.
