Sharyl: Thank you for joining us on Full Measure.
President Trump: Thank you.
Sharyl: First of all, we’re glad that you’re safe and that your family’s safe after the latest attempt on your life. How are you and the family doing?
President Trump: Very good. It was an interesting evening, but I felt very secure and I think Secret Service did a very good job.
Sharyl: The judge apologized to the suspect for the treatment that he’s gotten in jail.
President Trump: Well, I heard that. And then after watching that, they went back a couple of years and he was very apologetic to another suspect who I didn’t even know about. But he was also, the same judge was very apologetic to somebody else having to do with a similar subject. And, not even believable, actually.
Sharyl: On Iran, would you say the war is over? Is it paused or is it very much active?
President Trump: Well, they’re militarily defeated. In their own minds, maybe they don’t know that, but I think they do because I deal with them. And we cannot ever let Iran have a nuclear weapon, but they are militarily defeated. They have no Navy. They have no Air Force. They have no anti-aircraft weaponry. They have no radar. They have no leaders. Their leaders are gone. The first set, the A team is gone, the B team is gone, and part of the C team is gone. But I think we’re dealing with people that have a certain power. It’s very interesting because, you know, they make a deal and then they break it, then they make a deal, they break it. It’s a difficult group. But from a military standpoint, I mean, if we left, if we left today, it would take them 20 years to rebuild.
Sharyl: Where are we in the war if we’ve not yet gotten the nuclear materials, the enriched uranium from them?
President Trump: Well, we’ll get that at some point with whatever we want. We have it surveilled. You know, I did a thing called Space Force, and they are watching that every. If somebody walked in, they can tell you his name, his address, the number of his badge. No, we have that very well surveilled. If anybody got near the place, we will know about it and we’ll blow ’em up. We’ll blow ’em up.
Sharyl: So is it accurate to say you think the combat operations are over and done, but there may be
President Trump: No, I didn’t say that. I said, they are defeated, but that doesn’t mean they’re done. We could go in for two more weeks and do every single target. We have certain targets that we wanted to, and we’ve done probably 70% of them, but we have other targets that we could conceivably hit. But even if we didn’t do that, you know, that would just be final touches. But even if we didn’t do that, it would take them many years to rebuild.
Sharyl: Few politicians, I think, would be prepared to take a political hit on something as important to so many Americans as oil and gas prices in the short term.
President Trump: Yeah.
Sharyl: Even for something very important in the long term.
President Trump: Yeah.
Sharyl: The political and media climate, I don’t think they really allow for this sort of thing. They want immediate reactions and responses to things. So
President Trump: Well, I think it’s easy when I say it and somebody like you says, “you know, answer that question” and gives me a couple of seconds, it’s really easy to answer. We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon because they’re crazy. We cannot let them have access to nuclear. Obama did it. If, if I didn’t terminate the Iran nuclear deal, they would have had it and they would have used it on Israel and the Middle East right now and, and maybe beyond, you know, they have, they actually had rockets that you saw that the other day that could reach Europe. They would have used it a hundred per- And by the way, not 50% or ei- 100% they would have used it. They were dying to get it then. So I took Barack Hussein Obama’s horrible Iran nuclear deal. I terminated it in my first term. Knocked out Soleimani, very important. If you didn’t knock out Soleimani, I think it would have been a different country. It would have been more competent, but he was an evil genius, but he was an evil guy. The roadside bombs, et cetera, killed many, many people, maimed so many people, the legs, the arms, the face. So that was a big thing. I took him out. And then, very big. I don’t say, I don’t know, they’re all so important if you think. I’m thinking which is the most. But when those beautiful B2 bombers attacked eight months ago and attacked their potential nuclear site, they would have had a nuclear weapon within two weeks if we didn’t that’s why I had to go in. I knew that they were going to have a nuclear weapon and we obliterated their, I call it the nuclear dust. There’s a lot of nuclear dust, but we obliterated the site. At one o’clock in the morning with no moon, you couldn’t see a thing. And they went in and stealth, they went in and they did their job. They dropped those bombs and they landed perfectly and it just obliterated. If we didn’t do that, they would have already blown up Israel, in my opinion. Israel would have been blown up with a nuclear weapon.
Sharyl : What’s next in light of all of this for the U.S. and NATO?
President Trump: Well, NATO has proven to be a paper tiger. They weren’t there to help. You know, this is, the interesting thing is many of those NATO countries use-we don’t use-the Strait. In fact, boats are coming up to Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska and filling up with oil. We don’t need the Strait. We were doing it to help Israel and Saudi Arabia and Qatar and UAE, others. We don’t need it. It’s an amazing, we don’t use it. We had 1% and we did that as a favor. And, we have, we’re now producing more oil and gas than Russia and Saudi Arabia put together. Think of that, Sharyl. If you take everything that Russia does, everything that Saudi Arabia puts out, we produce much more oil and gas than Russia and Saudi Arabia put together. And by the end of this year, that number will probably double.
Sharyl: On some domestic issues, one of them, a lot of people are interested in involving the NFL. Your Justice Department is investigating the NFL for moving a lot of viewers from free broadcast television into more expensive pay programming like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Peacock, and YouTube where the NFL makes more money. Do you think this is price gouging on America’s favorite sport? Should the government do anything about it?
President Trump: It’s a tough. It’s so tough. You got people that love football. They’re great people. They don’t make enough money to go and pay this. It’s tough. And they could be killing the golden goose. I mean, they have that stupid kickoff thing that you can’t watch. It’s unwatchable. I hate the games where they, you know, they have the new phony kickoff. I don’t think it’s any safer. I hope college football doesn’t do that. Do you know what I’m talking about, right?
Sharyl: I’m not a big football viewer
President Trump: You are not a football, you are not a football fan. These people know what I’m talking about. You know, they ruin the game. But they have to be careful because, you know, others have tried this and all of a sudden you don’t have a sport anymore. Probably will.
Sharyl: Government will step in and do something?
President Trump: There’s something, there’s something very sad when they take football away from many, many people. Very sad. I don’t like it.
Sharyl: So do you think the government will step in and do something?
President Trump: I don’t know, but I don’t like it. I don’t like it. They’re making a lot of money. They could make a little bit less. They could, they could let the people see, you have people that live for Sunday. They live, they, they can’t think about anything else and then all of a sudden they’re gonna have to pay $1,000 a game. It’s crazy. So I’m not happy about it.
Sharyl: More with President Trump from the White House after a short break.
